Sarah H.

Private tutor in West Hollywood, CA

Education

Growing up, I attended all girls private schools, complete with plaid uniforms. After changing her major from sociology to undeclared, I took a poetry writing class, remembering my love for writing poetry and songs. From there, you couldn't keep me away from the English building, Andrews Hall, at my then Big 12 university in the midwest. In 2005, I earned my B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska, with an emphasis in creative writing.

Experience

As a copywriter, I've worked for branding firms and advertising agencies all over Los Angeles, and am currently out pitching my animated TV series to Cartoon Network. I've taken poetry and fiction writing classes, as well as Shakespeare classes. I want to be a tutor because I grew up hating math. It was the bane of my existence. I can only imagine if I had a tutor and had done better in my math classes, I would have enjoyed it more. I want kids to grow up to love writing and literature. For instance, Shakespeare is the best playwright of all time, in my opinion, but can be daunting and intimidating to students. But once you break it down, you realize how cool Shakespeare is. And kids can learn to love him.

Hobbies

Sarah B Hall is a writer and producer located in sunny, palm tree-littered Los Angeles. Her first "published" work was the magazine Gossip Galaxy, which she created and edited with her childhood neighbor when she was 10-years-old. It sold three copies. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Sarah grew up giving acceptance speeches in her bedroom mirror, holding cans of Aqua Net and "thanking The Academy," while dressed in the fanciest dresses in her closet. With a BA in English, a creative writing emphasis, and years of writing poetry, songs, short stories, and one issue of quite possibly the worst-selling magazine of all time, she finally made the move to L.A. in the summer of 2010. With a sarcastic sense of humor, quick-wit and knack for pithy dialogue, Sarah decided to focus on TV writing, and thus Dancing Gnome Productions was born. In the past, Sarah has written copy for brand design firms and advertising agencies around L.A., and continues to read, write and focus on her craft every day.  In addition to watching an obscene amount of  television, (The Mindy Project, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Girls, Married and Togetherness are among her favorite comedies) she also loves hiking, playing with her two crazy dogs, Charlie and Lola, breakdancing and drinking wine. Currently, Sarah B. has many projects in the works, including Ant(i) Colony, which is in development. She also enjoys Netflix streaming, video games (Super Mario Bros.!), hiking, playing with my dogs and TV. She makes a mean chili.
